MAY CHALLENGE – 30 Days Of New Places And Experiences

30 Day Challenge: Go Somewhere NewHey there!

For the month of May, I have decided to challenge myself by going somewhere completely new every. Single. Day. It’s scary, even to me. Will I run out of steam? What if my plans fall through? How will I handle it for thirty whole days? What if no one wants to go places with me? What if I don’t want to go places with me? This challenge is all about facing my fears, ending procrastination (“I’ll go there someday…” In some cases, “someday” has never come, even after 8.5 years of living in Ann Arbor), and discovering new places and people right here in my own neck of the woods! Are you up for joining me on this adventure?!

Confession: there may be some things on my list that aren’t actually in my “neck of the woods.” Stay tuned…

Want to create your own 30-day challenge? Here are some ideas to get you started:

  1. Volunteer somewhere new, get outside of your comfort zone (conservatory, retirement community, humane society)
  2. Check out a new restaurant
  3. Go to a new watering hole, find a local dive or pub
  4. Visit a new coffee shop
  5. Check out a new Farmer’s Market or a neighboring town’s market
  6. Attend a group meditation
  7. Attend a community class (think Art studio, fitness class, or life skill class!)
  8. Find a free event to attend (AnnArborObserver is a great resource!)
  9. Visit a library
  10. Visit a museum
  11. Play tourist in a nearby town or city
  12. Check out a new church in your area or attend a spiritual event (Reconciliation, Adoration in a new chapel, prayer event, a concert)
  13. Go see a concert for a band you’ve never heard before
  14. Visit an ethnic grocery store (Mediterranean, Italian, Indian, Asian, etc)
  15. Hike a new trail or picnic in a new park
  16. Play a game of pickup soccer or other sport
  17. Be a spectator for a sporting event
  18. Kayak or Stand Up Paddleboard a river you’ve never been on

Thanks for stopping by! Is there a place you’ve been curious about but haven’t “gotten around to it” yet? What’s stopping you?
