A Moment of Prose

Good morning y’all!

Well, I’m afraid the postdrome stage of my migraine left me braindead in its wake last week. As a result, today I’m sharing with you a little snippet of prose I wrote. Enjoy 🙂

I am sitting on a floating dock on a pond before a dam. The sky is glowing golden pink hues with deep bruised purple storm clouds dappling the horizon. A folk string band comprised of happy old men is playing bouncing songs of mountains and good women behind me. The fish are biting and the birds are flitting to and fro. I have a lot to do today, and I will have a lot to do tomorrow. But for right now, watching the water bugs skate on the viscous surface of the water and the sunset behind the forested skyline is right where I need to be. A humid summer night. Drink it in, in the blink of an eye, they will be gone. Summer nights are fleeting.

Right now I’m not worried about the deadlines at work. Right now I’m not worried about how my body looks or what I ate for dinner. Right now I’m unconcerned with how many likes on social media I get, how I’m always alone, or the fact that no day is guaranteed. Right now … I just am. In a cloud of fish flies.
